Supplementing for Dublin Horse Show Success
Foran Equine and Connolly’s RED MILLS customer Carmel Crowley very kindly told us about her now 20-year-old gelding Master Gigolo, AKA Dexter. Using RED MILLS Horse Care feeds and Foran Equine supplements, alongside lots of love and dedication, Carmel and Dexter competed in the Dublin Horse Show in 2022 and went on to win the Large Riding Horse. And they hope to return in 2024!
“I’m a big fan of Foran Equine supplements and have had great success with them. My 20 year old gelding is on Ost-O-Flex, Kentucky Karron Oil, Hoof Aid Powder and Equi-Lyte G and has never been happier or healthier. I’m super proud of the fact that he looked and performed well enough at the age of 19 to win the Large Riding Horse class at the 2022 Dublin Horse Show. The win was all the sweeter as he had spent the end of 2020 on box rest after sustaining a tendon injury and had lost all his top line. Once he was able to come back into work I gave him a 3-month course of Muscle Max which totally turned him around; I also changed his feed to RED MILLS Horse Care 10 cubes which he absolutely thrived on.
“I changed him onto Horse Care 14 in 2022 once I upped his work in preparation for Dublin, again he thrived on them and looked fantastic. The two judges at Dublin simply couldn’t believe that he was 19! It was a very proud moment for me!
“I also used Refuel Liquid from the Monday before the Dublin Horse Show and found it to be brilliant. He was living out during all of his preparation for the Show and only just came in for the Monday night before heading to Dublin on the Tuesday! I moved him onto Horse Care Ultra for maintenance after the Show and he loves it and is looking fabulous. We didn’t make Dublin in 2023 but I’m hoping to celebrate his 21st birthday by getting there in 2024.
